FiveAM Reg'd Dobermans

About Us

I came from a family that raised and showed purebred cattle. I enjoyed the show aspect from a young age and participated at the cattle shows, helping in the barns as well as in the local 4-H Club. When I was 18 years old I met Judy Bohnert of Equinox Dobermans, as we worked for the same employer. She invited me to my first dog show and I was instantly hooked. I had the privilege of meeting and learning from some of the breeders that I believe greatly influenced the breed, such as Free Spirits, Starstorm, Royolyn, Dawaquinn, etc. I purchased my first show male, “Dylan,” from Judy in 1987.

During the ’90’s, I decreased my time from the dog sports in order to raise my daughters and acquire my education, but I still had at least one Doberman in my home at all times. As my kids became independent, I could begin to get more involved with this amazing breed again.

My husband, Neil, is new to Dobermans and dog sports, but he has also been amazed with this breed and has gotten fully involved with the dogs and I. We took the plunge in 2010 and co-bred our first litter with the support of Judy (mentoring as well as kennel name). It wasn’t without some trials and tribulations as breedings can often bring, but we survived it and so did the puppies!

A tragic event occurred in our lives in 2007 and from that evolved the theme for our first litter as well as our chosen kennel name.

We live in a rural area with almost 4 acres, so the dogs have plenty of room to be dogs. We have a perfect setup in our home for whelping and raising puppies. We have a 1600 square foot heated and fully matted building as well, for training and playing with our dogs, and for the puppies when they come.
